10 Days till Christmas, 17 Days till 2018!
For our first spotlight, we interviewed one of the people that were there from the very beginning. His name is William “Bill” Vollrath, and he is a partner at GraySquare.
We asked him a couple of questions to further know more about him and surprisingly he is filled with many fun stories.
Before working at GraySquare, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I was a manager at Abercrombie and Fitch. It was unusual because we listened to the same 20 songs every day every month.
What advice do you have for prospective GraySquare candidates?
I would tell people to have a great student mentality, be flexible, have a long-term vision and understand that hard work will show results.
December is our first year anniversary as a company, what is one thing you will like to see GraySquare improve on? What is one thing we should keep doing?
I would like to see the company improve upon the organization. As we continue to grow bigger and launch new markets we need to be on our A-game to handle whatever is thrown our way.
Do you recall any embarrassing, funny, or impacting moment at work?
Yes, one day while training a new person, we ended up signing up Joe Flacco’s grandmother.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.
My family has a wrestling move named after my father, “The Vollrath Cradle.”
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
I would be a professional caddie. I would be able to travel the world and play golf on the nicest courses.
Do you have a favorite quote? If so, what is it?
Go big or go home!
What is your favorite thing to do in the wonderful city of Philly?
I love to try new beers at the all the new bars and restaurants popping up around the city.
What do you like to do on your days off? Any hobbies, second job, school?
I love to go to the gym, play sports and go fishing.
What holidays do you celebrate in December?
I celebrate Christmas.
Tell us a special holiday tradition you value.
At Christmas, my family always goes to church on Christmas eve and we eat at this special Italian restaurant.
What is one thing you want on your holiday wish list?
