Countdown to 2018 – Employee Spotlight Edition Starring Timothy Koontz

4  Days till Christmas, 11 Days till 2018!

Continuing our employee spotlights, we interviewed the one that started it all. His name is Timothy Koontz, president of the company.

Here are a few fun stories and facts about him.

Before working at GraySquare, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
Bus Boy for old men at the Elks Lodge
What advice do you have for prospective GraySquare candidates?
Be prepared for a journey that is worth the effort if done correctly and taken seriously.
Do you recall any embarrassing, funny, or impacting moment at work?
Countless crazy quotes and Bill Vollrath moments
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.
I have WAY too many pairs of Skateboarding Shoes
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
I love what I do, so I am here for life. BUT, other than professional baseball player, I would be a History Teacher.
Do you have a favorite quote? If so, what is it?
“Knowledge Speaks, but Wisdom Listens.” – Jimi Hendrix … I forget this advice far too frequently, which is why it is my favorite quote. It reminds me to be wise.
What is your favorite thing to do in the wonderful city of Philly? Pick the one you’re in.
Local Bars in Philadelphia are the best in the world. Trust me on this. Not the clubs, night clubs, dancing, etc. The local dive bar scene and the beer scene in Philadelphia are unmatched in any city.
What do you like to do on your days off? Any hobbies, second job, school? *
Poker. Reading. Learning a third language. PEARL JAM music.
What holidays do you celebrate in December?
Tell us a special holiday tradition you value.
We see Sublime / Badfish every year in Philadelphia. It has been 8 years running. I love music and this tradition started and hasn’t stopped, yet, and is something I anxiously await every year.
What is one thing you want in your holiday wish list?
Time with my family. I know it sounds corny and cliche, but I am not very materialistic personally, so my holiday wish list is to make the wish list of those important to me come true. My wish is that next Christmas, those close to me are much further along and closer to their goals than they are this year.
What is one thing you will like to see happen for 2018?
I want to see the company grow and many people learn the commitment level and the expertise and intellect and management prowess it takes to live an unbalanced life … unbalanced in a terrific way.
